Description: Contemporary calf on 5 raised bands, decorative gilt to spine, gilt title to spine. Octavo: 17 × 11 cm; pp. [2] ll., 243 p., [10] ll. With woodcut title vignette and 35 woodcuts in the text.

Condition: Covers, decently restored, showing slight signs of wear. Front pastedown with paper repair. Endpapers and title stained. Pages slightly yellowed with age, otherwise well-preserved.

Notes: Berthelot’s Traité de la navigation, published in 1701 in Marseille, is a significant work in the history of maritime literature, reflecting the practical and theoretical advancements in navigation during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. As a Marseille-based cartographer, hydrographer, and professor, Berthelot drew on his extensive knowledge of the Mediterranean to produce this treatise.
