Description: Two vols., blue cloth, gilt title to spine, original paper-covered slipcase. Octavo: 18.5 × 12 cm; pp. v, [2], 87, [1]; v, [1], 173, [1] (vol. 1 and 2 paginated consecutively). With b/w illustrations by Joseph Pennell and others.
Provenance: Loosely inserted is a bookplate of Richard D. Friedlander. Friedlander was a dedicated collector of books and prints with specific interests in illustrated books, Old Master prints, books on typography and books about books, English private press editions, and bookbindings. He was a member of both The Grolier Club and The University Club.
Condition: The slipcase shows some light toning along the edges. Both volumes are in excellent condition, with clean boards, straight corners and no rubbing. The contents are tightly bound and free of markings throughout.
