First Edition. The first Golden Cockerel Press book to be printed in the ‘Golden Cockerel’ font, which was specially designed for the press by Eric Gill. Limited to 1000 copies, of which this is No. 964.
Description: Original green leather spine and decorated boards (designed by Tirzah Garwood). Gilt title to spine. Octavo: 25 × 17 cm; pp. [1], 57, [2]. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Printed on English hand-made paper. With 4 wood-engravings by Robert Gibbings.
Enclosed: Loosely inserted is the Notice to Subscribers by Moira and Robert Gibbings.
