Notes: After training as a graphic designer, Paul Brühwiler (*1939) moved to Paris, where he gained his first professional experience at Condé Nast and with Albert Hollenstein. Five years later he moved to the USA, where he worked with Saul Bass and later in the studio of Charles and Ray Eames. In 1973, he returned to Switzerland and founded his own studio. In his countless cultural posters, Brühwiler always sought new creative paths and confidently used drawing, painting, collage, photomontage and typography. He often designed the typeface by hand. Brühwiler’s posters for the Zurich Filmpodium, with which he had a long-standing collaboration, are particularly legendary.
