Description: Quarter vellum gilt with vellum tips and blue Roma paper-covered boards printed in blind; dust jacket; original blue cloth slipcase and cardboard container with full-length printed spine label. Oblong quarto: 23 × 31 cm; pp. [1], 100 pl. (numbered in blind), [7]. Printed by the type foundry D. Stempel AG in Frankfurt am Main on Hahnemühle-Kupferdruckpapier.
Inserted: Booklet Quoted Texts of Manuale Typographicum in Original or Rendered English within band at the rear board and, loosely inserted is the original Georg Kurt Schauer prospectus, listing the typefaces of each typographic arrangement, 42 × 59 cm, folded into four sheets.
Condition: A clean, near fine copy with just a bare trace of toning to the spine, in a near fine dust jacket with very slight edgewear and slight loss to edge of the rear panel, minimal soiling and faint toning to the spine. In the very good slipcase with very minor wear, and all in the original, very good card container with complete spine label. Scarce in this exemplary state.
Notes: Part of the total edition of 1000 copies was printed for the American market and distributed by Museum Books. They differ from the German edition in the preface by Paul Standard and the enclosed booklet in English.
